Important Notes Before You Start:
- This procedure requires one working ignition key
- The following vehicles must be programmed by an automotive locksmith or dealership:
- 2005 Chevrolet Astro
- 2005 GMC Safari
- Ensure that all remotes expected to work for the vehicle are present. Any remotes that are not present during programming procedure will stop functioning until they are reprogrammed
Programming Procedure
- Close all the doors and make sure the key is out of the ignition
- Insert the working key into the ignition
- Press and hold the door "unlock" button on the master window switch. Do not release until step 9
- Perform steps 5 through 8 quickly
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine)
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position (where you can pull your key out of the ignition)
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (same as step 6 )
- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position (same as step 7)
- Release the "unlock" button on the master window switch. This will lock and unlock the doors automatically. This cycle means that the vehicle has entered the programming mode
- Hold "lock" and "unlock" button on the remote simultaneously until the door lock and unlock (cycle) again. This step could take up to 30 seconds
- Repeat step 10 for all remotes that need to be programmed (including any existing working transmitter)
- Turn ignition to On position to exit the programming mode
- Turn ignition to Off position
- Remove the key from ignition and test all remotes to make sure they are all properly programmed
